Job description

We're seeking a Loader Operator who's ready to put your skills to work on projects that matter - and build a career with a company that's building North America.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The duties of a Loader Operator include, but are not limited to, the operations and capability of a front end wheel loader and assisting with the daily operations and upkeep of the asphalt and recycling plant. This position is based in Calgary, AB, with travel requirements of approximately 5-10%. This position will be part of a union. 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Assist the plant operator with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
  • Perform repair and maintenance on the plant under the direction of the Plant Superintendent or Lead Hands.
  • Complete daily equipment checklists and maintain accurate equipment service records.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on the loader, including greasing, refueling, and maintaining fluid levels.
  • Monitor material production and ensure accurate weights within specifications.
  • Ensure consistent feed to maintain a quality product.
  • Identify and report workplace hazards and implement Best Practices.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the operator's cab, inside and out.
  • Contain any spills and notify proper authorities immediately following written procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent 

Required Work experience: Five plus years of industry experience.

Travel: Approximately 5-10%.

Additional Requirements:

  • Working location based mostly in the Calgary area, with occasional travel to Canmore if required.
  • Heavy machinery / equipment experience around asphalt plants preferred.
  • Ability to work in all types of climate and handle overtime, weekend work, and night shifts.
  • Fully trained in the operations and capability of a front end wheel loader.
  • Capability of heavy lifting, bending, and twisting; position requires considerable physical activity.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
