Job description

SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
The Paint and Finish Supervisor is responsible for overseeing operations for Truck and Trailer Paint and the Trailer Finish departments. This role ensures that all activities are performed efficiently, meet quality standards, and adhere to safety regulations. The supervisor will lead a team of paint technicians, assemblers, and installers, and act as the on-site paint expert.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Supervise and lead paint and trailer finish teams, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, track, measure, and report daily KPIs to illustrate how team and department are performing to expectations.
  • Oversee entire painting process, ensuring high-quality finishes and adherence to production schedules.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the painting and finishing departments.
  • Conduct regular inspections, tests, and audits of painted units and components to identify defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations regarding paint usage and disposal.
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques and other best practices to optimize the painting process.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as production, quality control, and maintenance to ensure seamless operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to drive process improvements, leading to lower costs, waste reduction, and improved quality.
  • Communicate effectively with upper management, providing regular updates on departmental performance and challenges.
  • Cross functionally schedules workload between both departments and communicate under and overages.
  • Collaborate effectively with all paint related suppliers to help ensure we are putting out the best possible product and are current and up to date with all methods.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of wet paint or a similar manufacturing role.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
