Position Summary

The Food Runner / Busser plays a vital role in supporting restaurant and food and beverage operations by ensuring timely food delivery, maintaining cleanliness and organization of dining areas, and assisting servers in providing an exceptional guest experience. This position helps create a seamless dining experience through attentive service, teamwork, and operational support.

 

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service

  • Deliver food orders accurately and promptly from the kitchen to guests according to established service standards.
  • Communicate effectively with servers and culinary teams to ensure guest requests and special dietary needs are met.
  • Interact with guests in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Assist with guest inquiries and notify leadership or service staff of any guest concerns requiring attention.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items and daily specials to support guest service.

 

Restaurant Operations

  • Set up dining rooms, patios, and service stations before service periods.
  • Clear and reset tables quickly and efficiently to support guest flow and seating availability.
  • Refill water, assist with beverage service, and replenish guest necessities as directed.
  • Ensure dining areas, service stations, and side stations remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Assist with transporting dishes, glassware, and utensils between dining areas and kitchen areas.
  • Support banquet, pool, in-room dining, and special event operations as assigned.

 

Sanitation & Safety

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards in accordance with company policies and local health department requirements.
  • Handle food items using proper food safety procedures.
  • Safely operate equipment and immediately report safety hazards, accidents, or maintenance concerns.
  • Ensure work areas remain organized and free of hazards.

 

Teamwork & Support

  • Work collaboratively with servers, bartenders, hosts, culinary staff, and leadership to provide exceptional guest experiences.
  • Assist with opening, closing, and side-work duties as assigned.
  • Support department initiatives and special events.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and participate in creating a productive team environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organization during busy service periods.
  • Basic understanding of restaurant operations and guest service standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
  • Resort, hotel, or high-volume restaurant experience is a plus.
  • Food Handler Certification required or obtainable upon hire, as required by law.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Fluent in English; bilingual skills are a plus.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Predominantly indoor work environment with occasional outdoor service areas.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability to transport trays, dishes, and restaurant supplies safely.
  • Frequent communication requiring hearing, speaking, and visual acuity.
