RN SANE COORDINATOR - ER

(Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)

Full Time (.8 FTE, 64 hours every pay period)

Primarily Monday โ€“ Friday 8-hour shifts, weekends as needed

Job Description:

The SANE program coordinator is responsible for the overall program operation and vision, as well as maintaining the daily operation of the program. The coordinator is responsible for staff recruitment, training, and continued professional development. The SANE program coordinator will keep the job environment as healthy as possible to avoid burning out by providing a safe, supportive work environment. The coordinator serves as a valuable liaison with other community agencies ensuring that the team remains actively involved in community education about assault issues and the role of SANE. It is the program coordinatorโ€™s responsibility to oversee ongoing program evaluation and research activities to appropriately modify and improve the program. The coordinator remains active in the clinical component of the program and will take calls to maintain their professional expertise. The coordinator will work with the Medical Director of the Emergency Services to maintain appropriate medical care and follow-up care. The use of SANE standing order will be used as developed and approved by the SANE program coordinator and the ED medical director. Protocols, policies, and procedures will be reviewed and updated as needed.

Experience/Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of patient care standards and practices is normally acquired through completion of a nursing program. Bachelorโ€™s degree in nursing preferred.

  • Knowledge of SANE normally is acquired through SANE training which is traditionally through the Wisconsin Department of Justice, or other state-based training program.

  • Previous experience beneficial.

  • Possesses an active Wisconsin RN nursing license.

  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. (See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Policy).

  • Annual accrual of CEUs/continuing education requirements per Education Council recommendation for the given year.

  • For positions requiring ACLS and/or PALS certification - American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Course or the American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider Course including a hands-on skills practice session with an AHA ACLS or PALS instructor or by using a voice assisted manikin (VAM) system desired.
