Job description

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the supervision of performance of all work in welding shop and ensure work is accomplished per approved drawings and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all time reporting is accurate and complete to reflect actual project charges.
  • Train subordinate personnel and establish work performance standards.
  • Requisition appropriate welding equipment to ensure no disruptions with schedule.
  • Ensure all material is properly marked with heat codes and handled in safe manner.
  • Monitor and evaluate welding process and procedures to ensure maximum output; plan and monitor workflow.
  • Confer with Production Manager and Quality Assurance Director regarding any issues.
  • Ensure all work orders and drawing packets are completed properly and turned into Quality Assurance Director at completion of project.
  • Ensure compliance with Techcrane Quality Management System.
  • Enforce use of personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Oversee shop cleanliness and organization, this includes breakrooms.
  • Supervise subordinates in accordance with company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Qualifications
    • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
    • At least 7 years’ experience in heavy structural fabrication.
    • Supervisory experience is required.
    • Experienced with welding practices and symbology per AWS D1.1.
    • Must be able to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
    • Must be proficient in fabrication and welding of structural steel components.
    • Must be proficient in gouging steel components and making 100% UT welds.
    • Leadership, organizational and time-management skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
