At Airgas, we aren't just looking for a technician; we are looking for a contributor to process innovation. As a Welding Sales Specialist, you act as a Subject Matter Specialist who aligns high-level welding engineering with operational excellence.
You will visit our internal field plants and external client sites to evaluate existing welding processes. Your primary focus is to look through an "operational lens" to identify bottlenecks, suggest safer techniques, and propose advanced technologies that enhance efficiency and safety. This is an advanced technical support and sales role designed to streamline the partnership process by providing compelling technical value and evidence-based solutions.
  • Evaluate customer welding/cutting practices and conduct Weld Surveys and Efficiency Analyses to recommend meaningful improvements.
  • Advance the Airgas Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology to contribute to the growth of capital equipment, robotics, and automation solutions.
  • Provide knowledgeable support and sharing of expertise on CNC cutting systems, robotic welding systems, and plasma/laser integration
  • Act as a mentor to the wider Welding Specialist team; provide onsite product and application training for customers to help upskill their workforce and foster development.
  • Coordinate the installation and servicing of fixed and robotic automation projects, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Collect and report on market trends, industry activities, and customer needs to keep Airgas as a trusted reference and leader in the industry.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent years of formalized welding experience.
  • Five or more years in B2B or specialized sales.
  • Reliable transportation, current driver's license, minimum liability insurance as required by state of vehicle registration.
  • Advance the Airgas Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology to contribute to the growth of capital equipment, robotics, and automation solutions.
  • Provide knowledgeable support and sharing of expertise on CNC cutting systems, robotic welding systems, and plasma/laser integration
  • Act as a mentor to the wider Sales team; provide onsite product and application training for customers to help upskill their workforce and foster development.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Welding Engineering Degree is a valuable asset. However, we also value diverse technical backgrounds and encourage you to apply if you have Military Welding training.
  • Exposure to technical sales or a consultative background is welcomed.
  • 4+ years of experience within the welding or industrial industry, or a similar background where you have developed a deep understanding of the field.

Preferred Education and Certifications
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Membership within the American Welding Society (AWS), American Society for Materials (ASM), American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), American Society for Quality (ASQ), American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and/or Society for Mechanical Engineering (SME) highly desirable.
