Job description

We are hiring experienced Pipe Welders for our Industrial Refrigeration Team! As a Welder, you must be able to pass a 2" schedule 80 carbon 6g xray test using 6010 root and 7018 filler and cap and/or must be able to pass a schedule 2" schedule 40 carbon to stainless 6g tig weld using 309 wire. Pay will be based on experience and welding qualifications.

Pipe Welders must be able to travel, majority of the year to service customers in NC, SC, VA, TN.

What you will do:

  • Weld pipes/metals with various techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and Stick
  • Determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques
  • Select type and size of pipe and related materials per job specifications
  • Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers (if applicable)
  • Assemble and install a variety of metal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of carbon steel and stainless steel
  • Secure pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools
  • Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to obtain AWS 6G certification through ColonialWebb
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding methods
  • Experience with cutting and assembling pipe
  • Knowledge of properties in various welding rods and fluxes used in welding metal
  • Ability to work from drawings, submittals and specifications is preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including unscheduled overtime (nights and weekends)
