JOB SUMMARY:

Under routine supervision, the Zamboni Driver performs ...

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Operate Zamboni to resurface ice rinks on a routine basis as needed;
  • Operate edger machine on a routine basis;
  • Clean facility to maintain neat appearance;
  • Perform minor repairs to the facility and equipment;
  • Work evenings, weekends and some Holidays;
  • Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: student and employee personal information, student grades, etc.), both during and after their employment with the University. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material, should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

% of Time TBD

80% Perform resurfacing of Ice Rinks on a routine basis as needed;

10% Clean facility to maintain a neat appearance;

10% Perform general maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and comprehend the English language sufficiently to be able to read and understand various forms, documentation, files and information in the department.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to be able to perform the duties of this position.
  • Good understanding of all rink operations; includes resurfacing of ice rinks and minor equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a cool environment for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and some Holidays.
  • Must have a valid New York State driver's license.

ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:

The functions of the position usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, computer software applications, and calculator, involve extensive wrist and hand movements. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  1. High School diploma required or any combination of education equivalent to graduation from high school or other combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities; associate degree in related field is preferred.
  2. One year experience performing similar tasks in a recreational facility is preferred.
  3. A valid New York State driver's license is required that satisfies both University and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle.
