Job description

Staff Pharmacist

All Staff Pharmacists must be licensed by the State Board of Pharmacy in which they are practicing and must be renewed and kept active in accordance with state pharmacy law.

A pharmacist interprets and evaluates prescription orders; dispenses and labels drugs and devices as indicated on a prescription; maintains proper and safe storage of drugs and devices, and offers or performs services, operations, or transactions necessary in conducting, operating, managing, and controlling a pharmacy. It is the pharmacist's legal responsibility to oversee the actions of all auxiliary personnel used to assist the pharmacist in any of their duties. The pharmacist must comply with all applicable state and federal laws governing the practice of pharmacy and the safe distribution of drugs. This position is a safety sensitive position.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Must pass Missouri State Board for state pharmacist license
  • Must hold a current license by the state Board of Pharmacy
  • Certified to administer immunization services is preferred
  • Prior experience in retail pharmacy preferred
  • Ability to manage a pharmacy with a small to moderate staff

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supervising pharmacy staff in the absence of the PIC.
  • Responsible for the daily operations and oversight of all business occurring within the pharmacy which include but are not limited to pharmacy security and safe work habits in the absence of the PIC.
  • Clinical problem solving.
  • Communication liaison between patients, physicians, and insurance companies.
  • Assist in quality improvement functions.
  • Review and monitor patient complaints.
  • Accept final accountability for all actions, decisions, and results of the pharmacy staff actions when on duty.
  • Communicate with the PIC regarding corrective action needed for during the PIC's absence team members.
  • Promote safe work practices by all team members and provide a safe environment for team members and customers/patients.
  • Handle and process employee and customer complaints and grievances and use independent judgment and discretion to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Directing the objectives, procedures, and activities for the pharmacy while on duty.
  • Take all steps required to fill prescriptions in compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures regarding the sale of pharmaceuticals including performing the final audit of the prescription
  • Assists with and responds in a courteous and professional manner to questions from customers and physicians in regards to knowledge of prescription and health related products and issues.
  • Offers advice and professional consultation; acts as a role model to the pharmacy team; efficiently handles customer complaints; and directs pharmacy operations to keep wait times to a minimum.
  • Responds to telephone requests from customers, physicians, and vendors that require the expertise of the pharmacist.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Drive pharmacy sales results by ensuring pharmacy team members provide a consistent high quality customer/patient experience.
  • Manage medication and medical supply inventories.
  • Administer and document immunization and medical administration services
  • Perform Medication Therapy Management and Medication Therapy Services
  • Special projects as deemed necessary.
