Job Description: Laborers tasks involve physical labor at utility construction sites to assist with the installation of water mains and water meters. Pipe Layers to prepare trenches for the installation of water mains and force mains. Main skills required include but are not limit to hand digging, backfilling and preparing yards and road right of way for grassing. General Laborers assist with all duties in general pipe laying projects. Laborers usually work eight to twelve hours per day as needed; however, overtime may be necessary on Saturdays or nights. Work may ask to travel. Laborers also operate hand and power tools of all types.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/Equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Class a CDL (not required)
  • Must be able to bend/kneel/stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds regularly
  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have strong communication skills
Additional Information

Job Responsibilities:

  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
  • Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones (roadway flagging)
  • Load, unload, identify water mains and water meter materials, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, compact and level earth, use shovels, tampers, and or rakes as necessary.

  • High school or equivalent

  • Driver's License required / Class A CDL preferred but not required
