how you'll make an impact:

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining the Distribution Center daily using preventive and corrective measures ensure the safety of the facility.

This role typically reports into the Manager/Supervisor Maintenance or Sr. Mgr. Safety and Maintenance and is based in either our Braselton or Stockbridge, GA Distribution Center.

  • 75%: Daily Operations

  • Operate automated battery changer to replace batteries in powered industrial lifts including, but not limited to Order Pickers, Reach Lifts, Electric Pallet Jacks, Pacers, Clamp Lifts, Fork Lifts.

  • Check for adequate water in batteries, and place on charge.

  • Check water levels on assigned schedule and add water as needed.

  • Visually inspect batteries, tag, and report repairs that are needed.

  • Document tasks performed on a daily basis.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and through written communication with both peers, departments, and all levels of management.

  • Ensuring that all work, including work performed by subcontractors, is done in accordance with OSHA regulations and Carter's safety rules.

  • Maintaining good housekeeping and working well with management, peers and subordinate employees to maximize productivity while minimizing employee conflict. Responsible for observing housekeeping, safety and C-TPAT compliance in assigned area of responsibility; Stay within compliance of the company policies regarding safety.

  • 25%: Support Functions

  • Perform preventative, corrective, and break down maintenance on conveyors and other material handling equipment.

  • Assist with planning and coordinating the maintenance and repair of conveyors, machines, and equipment.

  • Support the Coordinator/Supervisor in all duties as assigned including all operational areas of the Distribution Center

  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Must have:

  • You will operate equipment for most of your shift, so you must be able to pass equipment and safety certification.

  • Experience using routine industrial hand tools.

  • Basic electrical knowledge.

  • Team player willing to perform various job duties to support the department and the facility objectives and key performance indicators.

  • A customer-service orientation willing to exceed the expectations our customers.

  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds repetitively, scan with RF equipment, bend, twist, and be on your feet for shifts up to 12 hours long.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others (Supervisors, Managers, and peers).

  • Flexibility to work overtime and comply with blackout periods (no vacation or personal time allowed) during peak periods.

  • A valid state-issued drivers' license and a good driving record.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, not required.

  • Formal technical school or college degree preferred

  • 0-2 years of maintenance experience.
