Seeking strong candidate who is not afraid of hard work, possess initiative to get the job done, committed to providing excellent customer service, ready to start a career where they can flourish to become a certified water/wastewater operator! This position is primarily located in Carter Lake and Crescent, but will work closely with Silver City, Hastings, and Randolph.

Example of duties to be performed:

  • Maintenance and repair of treatment equipment.
  • Collect and test water samples.
  • Add chemicals.
  • Ensure important safety regulations are met.
  • Record data and read gauges.

Work environment:

  • Typically work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physical aspects include a lot of walking, bending, stooping, crawling, crouching, lifting, pushing/pulling.
  • Exposed to noise from machinery, unpleasant odors, malfunctioning equipment, confined spaces, and heights.
  • Typically work during the day, in addition to being on-call for a one-week period and perform weekend rounds based on a rotating schedule.
  • Occasionally may have to respond to after-hour emergencies, such as sewer backups/water main breaks.
  • Will be required to communicate with a variety of audiences - from consumers to regulatory agency staff; therefore, must provide a high level of customer service and ability to handle situations using tact and diplomacy.
