  • ​This job is a member of the Line Maintenance Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • ​Responsible for providing all necessary resources to ensure an efficient operation during shift.
  • Oversees and enforces Company, local, state and Federal safety and regulatory compliance requirements while establishing a working environment that is safe and professional on a day-by-day basis.
What you'll do

Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations. 

  • Oversees the admlinistration and interpretation of the collective bargaining agreement for represented employees and all company policies for both represented and non- represented employees, providing coaching and counseling as appropriate
  • Promotes mutual trust, by communicating relevant station matters to frontline employees, holding monthly Floor Leadership Team meetings, supports employee engagement through the Joint Leadership Team/Area Leadership Team (JLT/ALT) and supports the Continuous Improvement (CI) process
  • Engages in the “Working together” concept to partner with the union leadership
  • Uses on-the-job training to assess and develop Crew Chiefs and Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), ensuring compliance with training and qualifications
  • Interfaces with all Managers, Crew Chiefs, local union leadership, contractors, and local authorities
  • Assigns workload assignments to Crew Chiefs and updates Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) on workload progress including out-of-service aircraft
  • Adheres to applicable safety obligations as set forth in the American Airlines Commitment to Safety statement contained in the Safety, Security & Environmental Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Works rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, days off and overtime as necessary
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • 5 years Aircraft Maintenance Operations experience
  • Familarity with numerous functional areas
     

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years leadership experience
  • Previous experience with and knowledge of AA budgeting, policies and procedures
     

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) license
  • Strong interpersonal and PC skills
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple areas of responsibility
  • Excellent analytical, organization, and planning skills
  • Ability to adhere to applicable safety obligations as set forth in the AA Commitment to Safety statement contained in the Safety, Security & Environment Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Ability to pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint check
  • Understanding of other areas within Line Maintenance
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple areas of responsibility
  • Ability to fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA)
  • Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated drug testing requirements
  • Ability to complete a DOT Testing Inquiry Form, which provides authorization for release of records from previous employer
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
