Job description

SUMMARY: Rotates throughout several tasks in the bakery including planting, dipping, wrapping, filling, and packaging of product while adhering to food safety and quality procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fosters a sense of teamwork and collaboration among team members by building an employee culture that is aligned with HCC values and operating principles. Ensures all employees are treated consistently, fairly, ethically, and respectfully
  • Consistently follows departmental directions and adheres to all product specifications, food safety programs, GMPs, and HACCP Policies
  • Observes products within the assigned production process and ensures correct count, flavor, label accuracy and correct case packs
  • Rotates among duties within the Bakery production line including the fruit placing, chocolate dipping, sample chopping, wrapping and packing
  • Performs other production duties: pick/pack orders, receive/stow product and ensures inventory accuracy
  • Sets up packaging material based on order, fills cookies based on matrix, inserts packing materials to complete the product based on specification
  • Creates samples for retail and wholesale sampling
  • Maintains product knowledge and general information
  • Fills packaged products into cases and dates and stores in designated location
  • Operates and assists in various bakery equipment such as heat-sealing gun, sealing machine, table top chocolate tempering machine, flow wrappers, chocolate tempering tanks, and vertical feeder
  • Performs quality control checks consistently and properly throughout the bakery production processes
  • Ensures that raw ingredients and raw materials used are of good quality and appropriate quantity
  • Makes sure that all perishable items are stored and rotated properly
  • Cross-trains with other department members for maximum flexibility
  • Observes color of cookies (unbaked and baked) and informs Baker of not up to standard quality
  • Observes products across multiple stages, including ensure proper weights, baking, quantity/ distribution, cooling timeline, and label accuracy
  • Assists Order Fulfillment and Packing production during peak season
  • Ensures all bakery products and ingredients are properly labeled and dated following FIFO and best before date standard protocols
  • Reports any issues or problems with production lead or to immediate supervisor
  • Participates in training and progress developments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Inside of a typical industrial facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature, sound (decibels), odors, humidity and elevations
  • Continuously lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, bending, stooping, and squatting and some repetitive motions
  • Able to sit, stand and walk throughout an 8 to 10-hour shift
  • Good vision and hearing. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Able to work flexible hours and overtime as required, including nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours
