Job Summary:
Management Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer to support delivery of mission-critical services within a federal IT environment.
This role is responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation pertaining to IT and cybersecurity needs. The Technical Writer will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), technical teams, and stakeholders to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Documentation Development
  • Draft, revise, and standardize documentation for IT policy, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Translate complex technical concepts, processes, and requirements into accessible written materials.

Planning & Strategic Documentation
  • Update and maintain annual planning documents focused on information environment enhancements and modernization efforts.
  • Support development of strategic and operational documentation aligned with client priorities and initiatives.

Collaboration with SMEs & Technical Teams
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and technical teams to gather, validate, and synthesize technical inputs.
  • Conduct interviews, working sessions, and document reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of content.
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders to refine and finalize documentation.

Documentation Standards & Governance
  • Maintain consistency in style, format, tone, and terminology across all OCIO materials.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with organizational standards, templates, and federal requirements.
  • Support development and maintenance of documentation templates, style guides, and best practices.

Content Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Organize, manage, and maintain documentation repositories and version control processes.
  • Review and update existing documentation to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with current processes and systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation quality, usability, and accessibility.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field (e.g., English, Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related discipline), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of relevant professional experience in technical writing, documentation development, or related roles.
  • Experience developing technical documentation in IT, cybersecurity, or related technical environments.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather and validate technical content.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Experience maintaining consistency in documentation style, format, and terminology.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and document management tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity and IT governance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP).
  • Prior experience in a consulting or professional services environment
  • Possessing an active Q, L, or Top Secret clearance is strongly preferred.

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal contract and/or security clearance requirements.
Working Conditions: This position is primarily performed in an office environment or a home office setting. Employees will be required to use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and operate a computer and standard office equipment.
