Position Summary:ย 

FRDA is seeking a Technical Writer to create clear, accurate, and maintainable documentation for cyber security and incident response systems, workflows, and processes. This role ensures that complex technical implementations are well-documented to support operations, compliance, and knowledge sharing.ย 


This role is onsite in Nashville, Tennessee.ย 


Primary Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

  • Develop and maintain documentation for security workflows, systems, and processes.ย 
  • Create runbooks, playbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational teams.ย 
  • Document system architectures, integrations, and data flows in a clear and structured manner.ย 
  • Translate technical concepts into accessible content for both technical and non-technical audiences.ย 
  • Produce diagrams and visual documentation to support written materials.ย 
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to gather and validate information.ย 
  • Maintain documentation repositories and ensure version control and consistency.ย 
  • Support audit and compliance efforts by ensuring documentation completeness and accuracy.ย 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:ย 

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in technical writing within engineering, IT, or security environments.ย 
  • Strong ability to understand and explain technical systems and workflows.ย 
  • Experience with documentation tools such as Markdown, Confluence, Notion, or Git-based systems.ย 
  • Ability to create diagrams using tools such as Lucidchart or Draw.io.ย 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.ย 


Preferred Qualificationsย 

  • Background in cybersecurity, IT operations, or software engineering.ย 
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).ย 
  • Experience documenting APIs, integrations, or automation workflows.ย 
  • Basic understanding of scripting or programming concepts.ย
