Position Status

This is a permanent fulltime and a backfill position. The role is an active, approved vacancy within the organization and is intended to be filled as part of current staffing needs.

General Description

The Business Support Engineer within the Pharmaceutical Development Solutions (PDS) team supports the Business Development team to secure additional business by providing proposals, designs, quotations, and project plans. Ensures Manufacturing and Packaging equipment capability and readiness to meet client requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide estimates and recommend equipment train for client Request for Proposals.

  • Develop strategic technical plans in collaboration with clients and internal teams to meet the project schedule.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute equipment initiatives on existing and new equipment.

  • Design, specify (URS/FS/DS), procure, install, commission, trial, qualify (IQ/OQ) and handover of equipment for manufacturing and packaging processes.

  • Develop and implement equipment modifications and improvements.

  • Ensure Environmental, Health & Safety awareness through all project stages.

  • Select and manage professional consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

  • Support deviation investigations by acting as the Engineering Subject Matter Expert for CAPA development and Root Cause Analyses; manage completion of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs).

  • Develop and author site equipment procedures and standards.

  • Participate in site change control procedures as change owner, technical reviewer, or task owner.

Expereince & Skills
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Engineering experience in the manufacturing and packaging industry.

  • Current P. Eng. status (or equivalent) or eligible.

  • To be able to make informed decisions related to technical aspects for the process/product during quoting, design, testing, and operational situations.

  • Excellent knowledge of applicable legislation, Good Engineering Practices, and current GMPs.

  • Good project management skills and ability to handle multiple complex projects, with cross functional teams and independently.

  • Sound analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, negotiation, organization, and influencing skills.

  • Excellent technical communication skill.

Education
  • Required: B.Sc. Engineering - Various specialties (Chemical, Controls, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, etc.) .

  • Preferred: P. Eng. designation.

Working Conditions
  • Standard 37.5 hours work week.

  • Must be flexible for occasional after hours and weekend support.
