Description
Front Office Sports is seeking a Social Video Editor focused on our new show FOS Tonight, with a background in sports, business media, entertainment, or digital publishing to help turn our growing slate of multimedia programming into sharp, shareable social video.
This role will be focused on clipping, editing, packaging, and optimizing video from Front Office Sports studio shows, interviews, TV-style news segments, explainers, podcasts, live events, and other original programming. The ideal teammate knows how to identify the strongest moments from longer-form content and turn them into platform-native clips for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and other emerging platforms.
The ideal person for this role understands the pace of sports and news, has strong editorial instincts, and knows how to make a clip work in-feed. This person should be comfortable editing quickly, writing or supporting strong captions and on-screen text, understanding platform best practices, and working within a fast-moving social publishing operation.
Our Social Video Editor will report to the Social Media Manager and work closely with the Social Programmer, editorial, design, video, and production teams to help ensure Front Office Sports content is consistently turned into high-performing social assets.
Key Responsibilities
  • Clip, edit, and package social-first video from Front Office Sports studio shows, interviews, news segments, explainers, podcasts, live events, and other multimedia programming
  • Identify the strongest moments from longer-form video and TV-style news content, turning them into shareable clips built for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms
  • Edit vertical, square, and horizontal video assets that feel native to each platform and align with audience behavior
  • Create strong openings, hooks, pacing, captions, headlines, lower thirds, on-screen text, thumbnails, and visual treatments that help clips perform in-feed
  • Work closely with the Social Media Manager and Social Programmer to prioritize clips based on editorial value, timeliness, platform fit, and audience engagement potential
  • Support the day-to-day social publishing process by delivering clean, accurate, properly formatted video assets ready for programming, posting, and distribution
  • Understand and apply platform-specific best practices, including video length, aspect ratio, captioning, pacing, thumbnail style, title/headline approach, tagging, and posting format
  • Help translate Front Office Sports' TV-style and studio programming into social-first video moments that are clear, accurate, fast-moving, and highly shareable
  • Partner with editorial and social teammates to ensure clips are factually accurate, properly framed, and aligned with the Front Office Sports voice
  • Maintain Brand Excellence: ensure edits reflect consistent voice, typography, color, layout, pacing, and visual identity.
  • Monitor trends in social video editing, platform formats, creator-style packaging, news clipping, and sports media distribution
  • Respond quickly to breaking news, trending topics, and timely editorial moments by producing fast-turnaround clips and edits
  • Collaborate with design and video teams on graphics, templates, thumbnails, overlays, and other recurring visual systems
  • Help organize, name, export, archive, and deliver video assets in a clear and consistent workflow
  • Use performance feedback and platform analytics to understand what types of edits, hooks, formats, and clips are driving engagement
  • Ad hoc projects and other operational/administrative support as needed

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • 1-3 years of experience editing social video for a brand, publisher, sports media company, entertainment company, news organization, creator, or digital media platform
  • Strong understanding of sports news and the cultural and business impact of major headlines
  • Experience clipping and editing from longer-form content, including studio shows, interviews, podcasts, explainers, live programming, or TV-style news segments
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify the most compelling, timely, and shareable moments from a larger piece of content
  • Strong understanding of platform best practices across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms
  • Ability to edit for pace, clarity, retention, and engagement across short-form and social-first formats
  • Experience creating or supporting captions, headlines, hooks, on-screen text, thumbnails, and other social video packaging elements
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; experience with Photoshop, After Effects, CapCut, or other editing/design tools is a plus
  • Comfort working in fast-paced news, sports, entertainment, or social-first environments
  • Ability to take feedback, make quick revisions, and deliver clean edits on tight deadlines
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, visual hierarchy, caption readability, and social video design.
