Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

We're looking for a creative Video Editor to join our retained lottery client team and help bring the excitement of winning moments to life across Ontario. This role is focused on telling authentic, in-the-moment content that celebrates winners, communities and the positive impact of the lottery, creating a mix of broadcast, digital, and social content that feels genuine, timely and unmistakably on-brand.

The Lead Video Editor is the narrative architect responsible for shaping the storytelling across our clients’ monthly unscripted “surprise and delight” content series. Working closely with the Director, Producer, and clients, this role crafts the edit - taking the raw, unscripted human reactions captured in the field and distilling them into earnest and endearing short-form videos.

Responsible for delivering a monthly scope of 10+ short-form videos per month, the Lead Video Editor has an exceptional instinct for pacing and real human emotion. Collaborating closely with the Director, they pinpoint the compelling narrative through-line of each interaction to highlight the authentic surprise and delight of the winners. From assembly through final delivery, the Editor ensures every cut feels warm, genuine, and consistently true to the Postcode Lottery brand.

This role requires sharp creative judgment, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. While the field team will be traveling throughout Ontario to capture these moments firsthand, the Lead Video Editor serves as the crucial anchor of the post-production - seamlessly adapting to incoming footage and consistently delivering impactful, emotionally resonant work.

Every month, you’ll tell stories that celebrate generosity, community and positive change.

We're looking for people who meet the qualifications, but more importantly, people who genuinely care about the work they're creating. The best candidates are naturally curious, emotionally intelligent, collaborative and energized by telling authentic human stories.

  • Edit compelling short-form content that maintains both technical excellence and authentic storytelling.
  • Craft engaging narratives through thoughtful pacing, music, sound design, transitions and graphics while preserving genuine human emotion.

  • Assemble and maintain digital toolkit for brand assets, imagery, colours, and graphics for use in video content
  • Manage digital assets, ensuring consistent organization, labelling and file structure throughout the production lifecycle.

Teamwork & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with the Director and Producer to shape winner stories from unscripted documentary-style footage.
  • Present edits to client and inter-agency stakeholders for review and approval. Manage feedback review and implementation.
  • As team grows alongside content scope, serve as editorial lead and brand expert, maintaining a consistent tone of voice, rhythm, and brand cues across all assets.

Tactical Execution:

  • Prepare and deliver final assets across multiple formats for broadcast, digital and social channels.
  • Maintain efficient editing workflows while meeting recurring production deadlines.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-6 years' experience editing documentary, lifestyle or "real people" advertising content, with the ability to craft thoughtful and emotionally engaging narratives from unscripted footage.
  • Ability to quickly and intuitively scan through hours of content to find best takes and best moments.
  • Demonstrated ability to turnaround edits at the pace of tomorrow’s headline.
  • Strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing and narrative structure across bite-sized content.
  • Experience collaborating with Directors and Producers to shape authentic stories while working within established brand guidelines.
  • Mastery in Adobe CC products - Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop & Media Encoder.
  • Able to execute post-production from offline edit, to online & delivery.
  • Ability to execute a basic colour pass and sound design/mix when required.
  • Current knowledge of digital video technology, export settings and delivery formats.
  • *Must provide portfolio, reel, or sample works along with resume as part of the selection process

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be located in Toronto/GTA.
  • Available for monthly travel across the province to capture winner stories and community content.
  • Because every story is different, travel locations, schedules and production requirements vary from month to month.
