As of Jul 19, 2026, the average yearly pay for weekend software developer in Dallas, TX is $110,641.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $89,000.00 and $128,600.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is it true that AI will replace software engineers?

AI is unlikely to fully replace software engineers, especially those working as weekend developers, because human creativity, problem-solving, and understanding of complex systems remain essential. AI tools can assist with coding and automation, but software development still requires critical thinking, design, and oversight that humans provide. Continuous learning and adapting to new technologies are important for software engineers to stay relevant in an evolving field.

What engineers make $500,000?

Highly experienced software engineers, especially those in specialized fields like machine learning, AI, or cybersecurity, can earn $500,000 or more annually. These roles often require advanced skills, certifications, and leadership responsibilities, and may include bonuses or stock options that significantly increase total compensation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Software Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Software Developer, you need strong programming skills in relevant languages (such as Python, Java, or JavaScript), software development experience, and often at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, popular frameworks, and agile project management tools is typically expected. Excellent time management, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for balancing weekend work and collaborating with remote or distributed teams. These skills ensure the developer can efficiently produce high-quality code, meet deadlines, and contribute positively to project goals even outside traditional work hours.

What are the typical expectations and communication practices for a Weekend Software Developer working with a distributed team?

Weekend Software Developers often collaborate with teams that operate across various time zones and schedules. Clear, asynchronous communication is crucial, as you may need to provide detailed status updates, document your progress, and flag any blockers for your weekday colleagues. Many teams use tools like Slack, Jira, or Trello to facilitate handovers and ensure seamless project continuity. You can expect your responsibilities to focus on feature development, bug fixes, or code reviews, with an emphasis on self-management and proactive reporting. Building strong written communication skills will help you succeed and integrate smoothly with the broader development team.

Can you make $500,000 as a software engineer?

Earning $500,000 as a software engineer is possible but typically requires senior-level experience, specialized skills, working at large tech companies, or in high-paying regions. Most software engineers earn between $70,000 and $150,000 annually, with higher salaries often linked to leadership roles, stock options, or consulting work.

What are Weekend Software Developers?

Weekend Software Developers are professionals who work primarily on weekends to develop, test, and maintain software applications. They may work part-time, on contract, or as freelancers, often supporting companies that require continuous development or maintenance outside of standard business hours. These roles are ideal for individuals seeking flexible work schedules or supplemental income. Weekend Software Developers typically possess the same technical skills as full-time developers, including programming, problem-solving, and collaboration abilities.

What Are Weekend Jobs for a Software Developer?

In a software developer weekend job, you work part-time on programming projects during Saturday-Sunday shifts. In this career, your duties vary depending on your client or employer but typically focus on the design of programs, applications, and computer systems. You write code for programming projects and also test your programs or debug the developments of other coding professionals. When working with systems software, your responsibilities may include making necessary changes and performing tests. You may focus on a specific aspect of a software project or application or analyze and correct the programming for a larger network from the work week.

Are software developer jobs still in demand?

Software developer jobs remain in high demand due to ongoing digital transformation across industries. Skills in programming languages, cloud computing, and agile development increase employability, and many companies seek developers for both full-time and freelance roles, including weekend positions.

Job description

Mid-Level Software Developer

US CITIZEN or GREEN CARD ONLY   (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY)

No C2C or Agency

The Company:

Lanvera is the software technology leader in customer communications, serving clients with a strong focus on continuous innovation, strategy, and execution. We are financially stable and invest heavily in enhancing our technology platform that supports the design, generation, and delivery of business-critical documents. As a team, we're committed to excellence. Lanvera is a place where strategy meets execution and where your work contributes directly to better client experiences and ongoing digital transformation in the industry. At Lanvera, we embrace an in-person-first culture, inspiring a vibrant work environment that thrives on connections and strengthening personal growth.

The Position:

Mid-Level Software Developer

At Lanvera, you'll build and maintain enterprise applications on the Microsoft .NET stack. Most of the work is C# building and maintaining our BFF (Backend-for-Frontend) layer, a facade that sits between our web frontend and the backend services. There's also some frontend work in our Vue.js application, so you'll touch the full stack even though developers own the heavy frontend lifting.

You'll work alongside senior developers and the Enterprise Architecture team across all phases of development, from design through production support.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain C# / ASP.NET Core services, primarily our BFF layer and supporting microservices
  • Develop and consume REST APIs and integrate across backend services
  • Read and manage data from SQL Server
  • Contribute frontend features in our Vue.js app (views, forms, API integration)
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
  • Help support production systems and deliver work on schedule

Required Skills

  • 3–5 years of software development experience, or equivalent
  • Solid C# / .NET and ASP.NET Core Web API skills
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server and relational databases
  • Some frontend experience - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern framework (Vue a plus)
  • Comfortable with Git in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Nice to Have

  • Microservice or service-oriented architecture experience
  • Message-based / event-driven patterns (RabbitMQ, Mass Transit)
  • Vue3 / TypeScript
  • Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or containerization (Docker)
  • Authentication patterns (JWT / Auth0)
  • Structured logging/observability (Serilog, Open Telemetry)

Company Benefits:

  • Three weeks of PTO,
  • Health Insurance,
  • 401 (k) with dollar matching,
  • Profit sharing,
  • One day of remote work,
  • Long-term disability.
