Job description

About the Role
If you live and breathe agentic coding and can't imagine living another day without your Cursor or Claude code subscription: we want you on our team.

In this role, you'll build scalable backend software in Java, supporting applications used by ADT customers. You'll also play a key role in shaping how AI and automation are integrated into our products and engineering workflows.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Product, UX, and fellow Software Engineers to turn ideas into scalable, production-ready code
  • Design and develop internal (and potentially customer-facing) agents to automate processes as model capabilities evolve
  • Integrate multi-modal models into product pipeline to help better take care of our users, from analyzing video streams to generating automated, ML-driven reports
  • Design systems with scalability, performance, and storage in mind
  • Work with QA to build repeatable, automated validation of user-facing features
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across environments
  • Ensure stability and performance of production systems with minimal user impact
  • Estimate effort for new projects (in tokens)
  • Follow best practices across coding standards and the full software development lifecycle

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong experience with Java backend development
  • Experience building React web and/or mobile applications
  • Comfortable working in AI-assisted development environments (e.g., Cursor, Claude, MCPs, feedback loops)
  • Ability to write clean, readable code independently (without AI assistance)
  • Solid understanding of system architecture and design
  • Experience with web services (REST and/or WebSockets)
  • Experience with data storage systems:
    • SQL
    • Key-value stores
    • Document databases
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP)
  • Proficiency with Git version control

How You Work

  • Comfortable collaborating within a team (human and AI-assisted environments)
  • Proactive, self-driven, and able to take ownership of work
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to navigate complex challenges
  • Curious and continuously learning new technologies
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Seek guidance from others when needed

Key Traits for Success

  • Customer-focused mindset
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Bias for action and results
  • High integrity and professionalism
  • Collaborative and effective in team environments
  • Adaptable and comfortable with change
  • Ongoing commitment to learning and technical growth
