Job description


Position Description:
Develops world-class data platforms and software services using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, JavaScript, and Cloud technologies. Develops RESTful Application Programming Interface (APIs) and software applications with microservices architecture hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Infrastructure, using AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Docker, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), and AWS Lambda. Delivers Java software applications and services in a distributed environment. Develops data analysis and modelling concepts using SQL and writing stored procedures (PostgreSQL). Writes automated tests using testing frameworks (Junit and Mockito) and programs enterprise application architecture patterns with integration tools (JAX-RS). Models and creates REST API specifications, using Swagger and OpenAPI. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
  • Recommends development tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Works with teams to understand legacy systems and design.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining microservice applications using Java, Angular technologies, and AWS Cloud services, within a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining microservice applications using Java, Angular technologies, and AWS Cloud services, within a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing secure RESTful Web applications using Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Node.js; deploying OAuth2.0 and JWT applications to AWS-managed Kubernetes environments using Argo-CD; monitoring application performance and health using Datadog; managing GitHub workflows for streamlined delivery; and ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), using SonarQube and GitHub Mend security.
  • DE designing and implementing highly scalable, event-driven, serverless notification and data processing applications, using AWS Lambda to trigger AWS Glue Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) jobs to process files from Amazon S3; facilitating decoupled messaging and orchestration using Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS), Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS), and EventBridge; and transforming and storing the data into Amazon DynamoDB and monitoring operations with CloudWatch.
  • DE designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions using PostgreSQL and DynamoDB, and implementing through Hibernate and JPA for robust and scalable application architecture; implementing relational modeling, indexing, and query optimization, using execution plans and performance monitoring by authoring complex SQL, stored procedures, and triggers; handling performance tuning, database migration, and synchronization with mainframe systems, using AWS Database Migration Service; and automating deployments using Jenkins within Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless integration and reliable releases.
  • DE implementing unit testing frameworks -- JUnit with Mockito for back-end services and Jest for front-end components, along with automation testing and integration practices, using RestAssured and TestNG tools; and designing and executing CI/CD pipelines for application deployment, using Jenkins, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and repeatable release processes.
