Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough client assessments to identify social, emotional, and environmental challenges affecting students’ mental health and stability.
• Develop tailored service plans that set specific goals and interventions, and monitor progress regularly to ensure effective support.
• Provide individual and family counseling, applying evidence-based therapeutic interventions to resolve challenges and promote positive outcomes.
• Guide clients in navigating community resources, linking them with services such as housing assistance, healthcare, and educational support.
• Implement crisis intervention strategies as necessary, including risk assessments and safety planning to safeguard clients’ well-being.
• Collaborate with educational staff, parents, and community organizations to coordinate services effectively and advocate for students’ needs.
• Participate in outreach initiatives designed to raise awareness about mental health services in the schools, fostering community engagement.
• Attend case conferences and staff meetings to discuss client progress, share insights, and contribute to ongoing team training and development.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is on school-aged children and their families, particularly those facing obstacles related to mental health conditions and socio-economic challenges. By working directly in a school environment, the LCSW will address issues such as anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, and the impact of trauma on educational performance, thereby creating a healthier learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution is essential.
• Possession of an active state license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is required.
• Strong foundation in social and economic justice issues, with a keen awareness of community resources and support systems available for clients.
• Exceptional communication skills, cultural competence, and the ability to problem-solve in high-pressure situations.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
