• Engage in crisis intervention by providing mental health counseling to clients, including arrestees and community members, during critical situations.
• Accompany law enforcement personnel during mental health responses to assess situations, de-escalate crises, and ensure appropriate care for those in need.
• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations in the field to determine the necessity of 5150/5585 involuntary detention applications, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Coordinate with external entities such as psychiatric facilities and the Department of Mental Health to facilitate case management and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, adhering to all ethical guidelines and legal requirements regarding patient confidentiality and data security.
• Provide short-term crisis counseling to individuals experiencing non-violent mental health episodes, tailoring approaches to meet their specific needs.
• Train and educate law enforcement staff in effective communication and de-escalation techniques during mental health encounters, aiming to reduce the use of force.

Your primary focus will be on individuals experiencing acute mental health crises, with a special emphasis on supporting marginalized populations and those involved in the criminal justice system. • A valid and active California Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credential.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.

• Prior clinical experience, particularly in psychiatric settings or crisis intervention, is highly desirable.
