As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will:

• Develop and maintain confidential patient records that are compliant with federal, state, and ethical standards of practice.
• Conduct one-on-one assessments as well as group counseling sessions for individuals struggling with various mental health and substance abuse concerns.
• Plan, implement, and deliver tailored mental health services that promote wellness, academic success, and retention for students and community members alike.
• Provide crisis counseling for students in distress, conducting assessments and intervention strategies to ensure their immediate safety and mental health support.
• Actively participate in outreach initiatives to educate students, faculty, and staff about mental health issues and the support systems available.
• Evaluate and respond to student referrals through our patient management system, Maxient, ensuring timely updates and record management for optimal continuity of care.

Your primary focus will be working with students and community members grappling with mental health challenges. Your expertise will enable you to address complex concerns, from anxiety and depression to more severe mental health conditions. A commitment to multicultural awareness and sensitivity will be fundamental in helping all clients feel comfortable and understood.

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in counseling, social work, clinical psychology, or a related field.
• A valid and current license in California (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC), as associates are not billable under Medicare.
• Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and mental health management systems.
• The ability to work autonomously while managing a full caseload in a virtual setting.
• A commitment to providing patient-centered care with a focus on best practices and ethical standards.

While not mandatory, experience in working with geriatric populations is highly regarded, as it contributes to a well-rounded understanding of diverse client needs. Additionally, familiarity with crisis intervention techniques and preventive mental health practices will prove beneficial.
