North Central Utility (NCU), the second-largest Utility trailer dealer in the US, is looking for a self-motivated and results-driven Reefer Technician to join our growing family. If transportation is the lifeblood of America, our techs are the heartbeat that keeps the blood flowing.

At NCU, you will have a unique opportunity to work on reefer units from all manufacturers, but specifically Cargobull units. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Experience working on refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration units
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and HVAC/refrigeration principles
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain refrigerated trailers from major manufacturers (Cargobull, Thermo King, & Carrier)
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections (PMs) on refrigeration units, including belts, filters, fluids, and electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, cooling systems, electrical controls, sensors, and temperature management components
  • Diagnose and repair AC/DC electrical systems, wiring, and control modules
  • Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging per EPA guidelines
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related failures and determine proper corrective actions
  • Complete road calls and on-site repairs in a mobile service environment (when applicable)
  • Use diagnostic software and tools to read fault codes and system data
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and repair documentation
  • Communicate findings, repair recommendations, and timelines with customers or fleet managers
  • Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area, service truck, and tools
  • Assist with other trailer or equipment repairs as needed


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • EPA 608 certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours or on-call rotations
  • Must have 2+years of reefer experience
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Basic set of tools
  • Computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Welding or fabrication experience preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
