Job description

Job Summary: A Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting issues, performing repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks for production equipment, building systems, and grounds. They will receive specific work assignments under general supervision, and resolve most problems on their own or with some supervisory assistance. The Maintenance Technician is expected to practice and adhere to the Company's Six Sigma principles.

This position will train on 1st shift, Monday - Friday for 3 to 4 weeks. After training, the shift will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 6am to 6:30pm, work 36 hours and paid 40 hours with a $2.00 per hour weekend premium.

Essential Duties and Attributes are but not limited to the following, with other duties assigned as necessary:

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance jobs on equipment.
  • Perform electrical wiring and troubleshoot existing wiring. 480V / 240V, 3 phase and single phase. Arc Flash Training a plus.
  • Repair and/or installation of plumbing (I.E. black pipe threading, copper pipe sweating as well as PVC.)
  • Installation and Repair of Hydraulic and Pneumatic Pumps.
  • Complete basic Machinery repairs.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical knowledge.
  • Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power).
  • Fix lights, water problems, and other building maintenance tasks.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering with developing equipment and tooling & utility rearrangement projects.
  • Ability to do basic cleaning duties before or after assigned job as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and or shift that is required.
  • Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports.
  • Familiar with lock out tag out procedures.
  • Maintenance on CNC operated machines.
  • Tooling experience.
  • Fabricate or modify parts, using shop equipment.

Preferred Technical Abilities we are looking for include:

  • Competent in troubleshooting VFD's (Variable Frequency Drives)
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot CNC Machines.
  • Turret Press repair experience
  • Press Brake operation and repair experience.
  • Laser operation or repair experience.
  • Basic knowledge of air compressor repair is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Hoists for operation, inspection, and repair.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems a plus but not required.

Physical Demands:

  • Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 100 (infrequently), 50 (occasionally), 25 (frequently).
  • Maximum moving requirement (pounds): Over 100 with assistance.
  • Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent lifting, carrying, standing, sitting, walking, climbing, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting upper body.
  • Working at heights off the ground up to: 30 feet (Lift device, ladder with fall protection)
  • Vision requirements: Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
  • Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.

Work Environment:

  • Work location: Metal fabrication/assembly shop and indoor/outdoor storage areas.
  • May have some exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts/equipment including overhead cranes, sharp/heavy materials, inclement weather. May be required to wear PPE to avoid exposure.
  • Personal protective equipment requirement: Safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes, additional as needed to complete duties.

Position Requirements:

  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background, drug and work screen.

  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Good attendance is a must.
  • Other certifications or equivalent experience are preferred.
  • Experiential: Three or more years of maintenance or related experience is desirable.
  • Educational: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Related technical training (high school or beyond).
  • Certificates, Licenses: Forklift operator certification; driver's license.
