Job description

Assembly Technician - WEEKEND

Hours for the position: Fri-Sun 6:00am - 6:30pm, training on weekdays

$22 - $31 hourly, plus 10% weekend shift differential

The job summary: Build assemblies and sub-assemblies to blueprint specifications and customer requirements using a variety of hand tools and measurement devices.

While not inclusive, this position will provide support in the following areas of the Assembly Department:

Assembly:

  • Obtain and execute directions from the Assembly Supervisor
  • Follow priority list of jobs
  • Monitor and protect the assets of the company and ensure that appropriate tools and hardware are used for each job
  • Perform diversified assembly operations to assemble intricate or large apparatus, machines, or equipment to close tolerances and inspection requirements
  • Perform skilled fitting of parts, sub-assemblies and related units
  • Align, adjust and assemble components that may require secondary machining
  • Assemble fittings precisely to ensure free action of moveable parts as indicated by operating requirements
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments and gauging devices
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Adhere to all quality policies and meets company quality goals of on-time delivery of completed parts without compromising quality, safety or equipment life

Verification of Product:

  • Verify settings of assemblies by measuring parts to ensure they are to print and customer specifications while adhering to quality standards
  • Identify production errors, act as a secondary inspection

Record keeping:

  • Completing all required logs, recording and reporting forms and documentation accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Perform inspection of related records for completion, accuracy, and readability
  • Accurately count, record, and resolve any quantity or completeness discrepancies prior to accepting responsibility
  • Accurately count and record all quantities prior to forwarding to next workstation

The experience you have:

Education, Experience, Certifications, Licenses: Required: High School diploma or GED, Preferred: One year certificate in Mechatronics or equivalent. Familiarity with Assembly process and procedures. Ability to read assembly blueprints and BOMs. Familiarity with clean room procedures and requirements.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills with ability to operate within Windows, including Word, Excel and Access.

Language Skills: The ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, schematics, blueprints and travelers is required. Effective interpersonal and communications skills through a variety of methods is required.

Mathematical Skills: Proficiency with intermediate level math skills is necessary, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Requires the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form is an on-going requirement.

Physical Demands: Walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, stopping, handling, fingering, reaching, lifting and pulling are necessary throughout the day. Ability to lift on occasion up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: The work environment for this position is that of a class 1000 and 10000 cleanrooms. Located inside an industrial machine shop/production facility. Employees may experience loud noises, at varying levels, throughout the workday.
