American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby (Postpartum) position at a Birmingham, AL hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of postpartum experience and AHA-issued BLS and NRP certifications.
Job Details
โ€ข Work setting is a 27-bed Mother-Baby (postpartum) unit within a comprehensive hospital facility,
โ€ข Patient population consists of postpartum couplets (mother and newborn),
โ€ข Patient ratio is 1:3-4 couplets,
โ€ข Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Medela breast pumps, and Medela Breastmilk Warmers,
โ€ข EMR is currently Cerner, transitioning to Epic on or after 8/1/2026,
โ€ข Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM,
โ€ข 13-week contract,
โ€ข Schedule requires every other Friday and Saturday,
โ€ข 36 hours per week,
Job Requirements
โ€ข Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand; no hits on license accepted,
โ€ข Current AHA-issued certifications required: BLS and NRP (American Red Cross certifications are not accepted),
โ€ข Minimum of 2 years of recent postpartum RN experience required,
โ€ข Proficiency in postpartum maternal and newborn assessments, PPH management, HTN management, and OB Sepsis management,
โ€ข Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,
โ€ข SSN and DOB required for consideration,

โ€ข Primary responsibilities include postpartum couplet care for mothers and newborns,
โ€ข Preferred experience in postpartum couplet care (mother and newborn together),
โ€ข The facility holds Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission and includes a Women's Medical Center with a Level III NICU on campus,
โ€ข Required scrub color is navy; fleece and plain t-shirts are not acceptable attire,
โ€ข Natural nails are required; no artificial nails permitted,
