Job description

Looking for an opportunity to make an impact?

At Leidos, we deliver innovative solutions through the efforts of our diverse and talented people who are dedicated to our customers' success. We empower our teams, contribute to our communities, and operate sustainably. Everything we do is built on a commitment to do the right thing-for our customers, our people, and our community. Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide the way we do business.

Your greatest work is ahead!

Leidos' Defense Systems Persistent Surveillance Portfolio is seeking a highly experienced Electronic Warfare Software Engineer to create unique solutions for complex challenges. With offices across the United States supporting defense, space, cyber, and commercial programs, Leidos Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific, and IT solutions.

This position offers opportunities for both new and experienced engineers to advance their technical knowledge in sensor and radar systems. Our department values new ideas and encourages innovation across the many sensor projects that span the entire DoD ecosystem. Advancement opportunities into senior technical, project management, and personnel leadership roles are also available.

If this sounds like an environment where you can thrive, keep reading!

About the Leidos Defense Systems Sector

The Leidos Defense Systems Sector offers a broad portfolio of systems, solutions, and services spanning land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Our defense capabilities include enterprise and mission IT, large-scale intelligence systems, command and control, geospatial and data analytics, cybersecurity, logistics, training, and intelligence analysis and operations support. We solve the world's toughest security challenges for customers with critical, "can't fail" missions.

Primary Responsibilities

The selected candidate will support the design, implementation, and integration of advanced radar technologies into new and existing sensor programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • High-speed data acquisition

  • Data distribution and real-time signal processing

  • Modular software design

  • Integration of COTS and custom technologies into prototype sensor systems

  • Field testing of RF sensors and systems

  • CONUS/OCONUS deployment of advanced sensor systems

You will be assigned a wide variety of tasks related to the development of real-time prototype sensors. This role provides exposure to a broad range of software and computer engineering technologies, with opportunities to learn directly from experienced engineers and contribute meaningfully to multiple projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an ABET-accredited institution plus 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Excellent teamwork skills

  • Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of the following:

  • Object-oriented software design principles

  • Modern C++ development

  • NVIDIA CUDA GPU development and optimization

  • Linux and shell scripting

  • Software design patterns

  • Ability to apply these skills to radar and EW system development, digital signal processing, tracking algorithms, and field testing of sensor systems

  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance

  • Residence in the North Alabama area or willingness to relocate to the Huntsville/North Alabama region

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MATLAB

  • Understanding of signal processing fundamentals (sampling, Fourier analysis, etc.)

  • Familiarity with development and collaboration tools such as GIT, JIRA, and CI/CD pipelines

At Leidos, we don't want someone who "fits the mold"-we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, "what's next?" before the dust settles on "what's now."

If you're already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2... good. You'll fit right in.

Original Posting:

For U.S. Positions: While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.

Pay Range:

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
