Job Description Performance Assessment Engineer Location: Huntsville (HSV) Clearance: Active Secret required Cybersecurity Requirement: None Position Overview DSI is seeking a Performance Assessment Engineer to develop analytical tools, evaluate system performance, and identify regressions following software changes. The selected candidate will analyze large datasets, collaborate across technical teams, and translate complex findings into actionable development tasks. Key Responsibilities Develop ad hoc post-processing tools, visualizations, and plots to assess system performance, preferably using Java, Python, or MATLAB.

Track program development updates and conduct analyses to identify performance regressions following code changes. Collaborate across teams to perform in-depth analyses using established Technical Performance Metrics, Special Interest Items, and other relevant measures. Evaluate system performance across timing, track quality, discrimination accuracy, and other parameters using large datasets.

Serve as the technical liaison between analysts and software developers. Translate analytical findings into specific, actionable development tasks. Create analysis documents, technical briefings, and detailed presentation materials.

Present performance findings to internal and external technical and program leadership. Required Qualifications At least three years of related professional experience. Relevant postsecondary education or technical training in a related discipline.

Active Secret clearance. Applied software engineering experience. Experience developing tools or other technical products used to analyze or assess a system or project.

Ability to analyze complex data and communicate technically sound conclusions. Experience creating and presenting technical analysis or briefing materials. Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications Programming experience with Java, C++, Python, or MATLAB, with Java and Python preferred. Experience with database management, networking, or data communications. Experience with DevOps-related tools such as Jenkins, HTCondor, or GitLab.

Familiarity with statistical distributions and their application to: Hypothesis testing Model validation Inferential statistics Confidence-interval estimation Goodness-of-fit testing and interpretation Experience performing systems engineering for Department of Defense information systems. Experience developing and presenting chart packages describing analytical tools, methods, and results. Familiarity with modern computing hardware and infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, virtual machines, system architectures, and network practices.
