Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week.

Availability: Availability to work opening or closing shifts is required. One weekend shift is also required each week.

The Manager on Duty(MOD) is responsible for creating and fostering an exceptional store experience for customers and team members alike. The MOD follows the direction of the Store Manager. The MOD will assist to direct store operations, develops teamwork and ensures that sales and labor benchmarks are met and hopefully exceeded. They have a strong desire for continuous improvement and inspires the same desire in their team members. The MOD understands that positive customer experience and team morale are essential factors to successful daily operations. The MOD interacts with customers, vendors, and TP Team Members in a positive and authentic manner at all times.

The MOD supports the Store Manager, embodies the spirit of servant leadership and sets a positive tone for a productive and happy team. The MOD must be ready and willing to serve in any department needing help and to support store operations in any and all capacities. This individual embraces the mission and values of TP by demonstrating a passion for the local and natural foods industry. The MOD assists to ensure their store is following TP outlined inventory, ordering, and merchandising Standard Operating Procedures with the appropriate labor in order to meet financial goals. The MOD works with the SM to ensure that their store is following TP outlined policy for all money handling procedures. This person assists in the accountability for safe and smooth operations and a welcoming store experience.

Team & Leadership

  • Displays an attitude of service leadership congruent with the TP mission and culture. Provides great service to team members, customers, and vendors alike.
  • Shows a strong understanding of the value of authentic and truthful communication.
  • Participates in the hiring, training, coaching and development of team members in collaboration with the Store Manager.
  • Works diligently with the SM to achieve TP performance goals through consistent communication, effective training and proper use of disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of TP team members, customers, vendors, suppliers and all company information, provides effective feedback as necessary.
  • Recognizes when there is a problem and discusses the need for improvement, allowing for mid-course correction via clear definition regarding what is and is not going well and provides path to success.
  • Provides a safe work environment for TP team members by following the TP workplace safety policy.
  • Oversees Associates/Store Floor when SM is not present, addressing issues that might arise with customers and staff.

Store Operations

  • Assists with ordering, inventory maintenance, merchandising and customer service.
  • Ensures that all shelves are fully stocked, faced, detailed, and accurately labelled.
  • An MOD must have the desire and capacity to be the best at all operational tasks and be able to lead by example.
  • Performs duties as assigned.
  • Assists with receiving trucks.
  • Relays pertinent customer feedback to the SM/Staff
  • Tactful handling of customer complaints with a strong desire to hear feedback and make the situation right. The MOD must understand how to use customer feedback to improve future store experience.
  • Ensure store floor is clean and safe, acting immediately if there is a “at risk” situation.
  • Confirm that Associates perform Opening and Closing duties completely and accurately.
