Registered Nurse (RN) – Step Down / Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

What You’ll Do

As a Step Down / Intermediate Care RN, you’ll play a key role in caring for patients who require closer monitoring than Med Surg but do not require full ICU-level care.

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice
  • Perform frequent assessments and closely monitor patient condition, recognizing changes and escalating care as appropriate
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, continuous infusions, and treatments safely and in accordance with hospital policy
  • Monitor cardiac telemetry and other patient monitoring equipment
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care team members to achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Educate patients and families to support recovery, transitions of care, and discharge planning
  • Respond promptly and professionally to patient needs, alarms, and call lights
  • Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies and life-threatening situations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and healing patient environment
  • Participate in unit-based Quality Assurance, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Support the orientation and training of new staff and nursing students as requested
  • Practice within the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); BSN preferred
  • Active RN license eligible to practice in Wisconsin
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • ACLS certification preferred or required within a defined timeframe
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to safely use patient care equipment and meet physical and cognitive job demands
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Pay & Differentials
