Under general supervision of the MCI Director, the Oncology Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to safely perform oncology patient care. The registered nurse is responsible for the continuity of care for patients receiving treatment. Provides consultation, patient, family and staff education. Works collaboratively with the radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, referring physicians and other staff members associated with the Mississippi Cancer Institute. Work assignments will be determined by adjustment of daily scheduled appointments, and priority needs of the patients, medical director or director. The Oncology Registered Nurse will be assigned to work up to 40 hrs. per week. Weekend work if needed will be rotated accordingly.
