Job description

Venue Summary
After hours, the late-night lounge comes to life. Located on the lower level, Babou's is a hideaway night club featuring a lively dance floor and intimate nooks for a rambunctious audience. Open to both guests and visitors, every night is a show, and the scores of merrymakers are the headlining act. Right next door just a bookcase away, The Library at Babou's is a prelude to a night of revelry. Sip on crafted cocktails and sink into the cozy furniture while surrounded by the words of the literary greats.
Position Summary
Responsible for managing the guest list at the front door and booking bottle service tables while building a VIP clientele following. The VIP Host is responsible for negotiating table minimums and seating tables during the shift. This position manages the arrival process for all table reservations and VIPs. The VIP host will be responsible for but not limited to numerous other marketing activities such as promoting Babou's in the nightlife community, VIP Thank you program, VIP guest tracking, restaurant partnerships, collecting business cards, and recruiting staff.
During the course of the nightlife shift, the VIP Host will interact with guest in a number of ways, including managing the guest list at the front door, maintaining the preferred dress code, communicating minimums and essential information about each table with the service team, and transferring tables late night to properly maintain energy throughout the shift. The VIP Host is responsible for presenting themselves as a positive reflection of Babou's while also marketing to potential guests.
Responsibilities
  • Managing the late night guestlist
  • Building a VIP client database for Babou's
  • Maintaining Babou's preferred guest dress code.
  • Acts as an ambassador of Babou's, marketing the venue and all products offered to the targeted clientele base.
  • Is aware of the impact individual behavior will have on Hôtel Swexan as a whole, presents oneself as a public relations agent at all times.
  • Collects guest information for guest database, while constantly striving to increase the size of personal clientele.
  • Constantly provides guests with accurate information about the venue and property as well as entertainment offered in each.
  • Has the ability to effectively communicate table minimums and cover charge with potential guests in a positive manner.
  • Grows revenue by maximizing available space and upholding table minimums and cover charge at all times.
  • Works with a sense of urgency to anticipate guest needs. Works with the same degree of urgency to assist other team members when the opportunity arises.
  • Maintains knowledge of the venue floor plan and table numbers, seating the room evenly and consistently.
  • Communicates all relevant information to the service team, putting the service team in the best possible position to execute flawless service.
  • Communicates with management, hosts and service staff immediately to rectify any and all guest needs and requests.
  • Assists the service team in up-selling and creating contacts.
  • Responsible for making the call to release a table in the case of late arrival or no-show.

  • Previous experience within the hospitality industry is required, preferably in a nightclub or speakeasy environment.
  • Must deeply understand the local Dallas music and social scene, but being well-traveled is a plus.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve conflicts in a customer-focused, professional manner.
  • Must be capable of multitasking in a high-volume setting, acting as a leader, and representing the Hôtel Swexan brand well.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends and support the Food & Beverage operation.
