Job description

BARTENDER — NIGHTLIFE (2 Openings) — Part-Time

Job Title: Bartender – Nightlife (Part-Time)
Location: 325 S Clinton St, Syracuse, NY 13202
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 per hour + tips

About the Role

Erma's Bistro in downtown Syracuse is hiring two part-time Nightlife Bartenders. These are late-night, high-volume shifts — Thursday through Saturday, running past close. You own the bar itself: setup, stock, cleanliness, and the quality of every drink that leaves it.

We're looking for bartenders who know their craft, keep pace under pressure, and can hold a busy bar together on a packed Saturday night.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages to recipe and standard at high volume
  • Maintain the bar top to bottom: opening setup, restocking, product rotation, ice, garnishes, glassware, and closing duties
  • Track inventory levels and flag needs before you run out
  • Provide full service to bar guests — greet, take orders, run tabs, and close checks
  • Keep the bar clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards throughout service
  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately in a fast-moving environment
  • Verify IDs and serve alcohol responsibly; recognize and manage over-service situations
  • Work alongside security and floor staff to keep the room safe and running smoothly
  • Complete full breakdown, restock, and clean-down at end of night

What We're Looking For

  • Prior experience maintaining and running a bar (stock, prep, inventory, cleanliness)
  • Mixology experience — solid knowledge of classic cocktails, technique, and build order
  • Service experience: bartenders who have also worked the floor or handled full guest service at the bar
  • Proven ability to handle high-volume, late-night crowds
  • Reliable and punctual — these shifts depend on a full bar team showing up
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcohol in New York State
  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Schedule

Part-time:

  • Thursday: 8:00 PM – 1:30 AM
  • Friday: 9:00 PM – 3:00 AM
  • Saturday: 9:00 PM – 3:00 AM

Availability for all three late-night shifts is required.

Compensation

$11.00 per hour plus tips.
