Position Type: Permanent
Specialty: Physician - Neonatology
Shift: Flexible rotating neonatology coverage with shared rounding and call schedule

Position Details:
Patient Population: Critically ill and premature newborns requiring advanced neonatal care
Setting: 70-bed Level III NICU within a designated perinatal/neonatal regional center and Level I trauma center

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal care in a state-of-the-art Level III NICU
  • Manage critically ill and premature newborns
  • Utilize advanced neonatal therapies including high-frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, and total body cooling
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, pediatric subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, and maternal-fetal medicine specialists
  • Participate in shared rounding and call schedules
  • Support evidence-based neonatal care initiatives and quality improvement efforts
  • Educate and mentor pediatric residents through academic involvement
  • Contribute to a collaborative and physician-led care environment

Required Procedures:

  • High-frequency ventilation
  • Inhaled nitric oxide therapy
  • Total body cooling
  • Advanced neonatal critical care management

Support Staff: 7 Neonatologists, 6 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs), Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Subspecialists, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists

Days Per Month: Full-Time
On-Call/Weekends: Shared call coverage and rotating weekend NICU coverage schedule

Requirements:

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
  • Completion of Neonatology Fellowship Training
  • Georgia Medical License or willingness to obtain
  • Neonatology experience required
  • Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days)
  • DEA required prior to start date
  • Clean malpractice and license history highly preferred
  • Must specify visa sponsorship requirement status (J1 sponsorship accepted)
