Job description

The weekend Mechanical Technician position will be located at Howmet Whitehall Casting. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assist Facility Engineers with completion of capital projects
  • Install, move, or modify plant equipment
  • Procurement of repair parts, spare parts, or raw materials as needed 
  • Update or create new schematics and drawings
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance staff for repairs and modifications
  • Create and implement preventative maintenance and repair procedures

This position will begin with training on a weekday schedule before transitioning to the weekend crew, which works three 12-hour shifts.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in a mechanical or maintenance‑focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a technical discipline or completion of a registered apprenticeship program
  • Experience in maintenance, construction, HVAC, equipment installation, fabrication and welding, hydraulics and pneumatics, or plumbing and piping systems
  • Good mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading capabilities
  • Must be energetic and a self-starter, able to promote and implement change, have good PC skills, good telephone skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to promote a continuous improvement atmosphere
  • Able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organizations skills
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative
