General Maintenance Mechanic
Air Star Transportation is currently seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic to join our team that will work at both our West Mifflin and Cranberry Township locations. This mechanic role performs preventive maintenance, perform diagnostics, and make repairs on our vehicles in the safest, most effective way possible.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation/changes, wheel balancing, filter replacement
  • Maintain vehicle functionality by listening to operator complaints, repairing engine failures and system malfunctions, replacing parts/components, repairing body damage
  • Complete regularly scheduled fleet inspections
  • Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems as needed
  • Comply with state vehicle requirements, monitoring engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Maintain vehicle appearance amp; records: washing, cleaning, and painting/ recording all service and repair
  • Keep shop equipment running smoothly by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance/calling for repairs
  • Assist in maintaining shop budget by using warranties and evaluating options for service and parts
  • Maintain supplies, inventory stock, placing orders, and verifying delivery
  • Ability to weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements (Knowledge and Skills):
Knowledge:
  • A high school diploma, required
  • 2-4 years’ experience as a mechanic
  • Be able to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screening, and random testing. Medical Marijuana will disqualify any candidate.
  • Must be at least 23 years of age (insurance purposes)
  • Have a valid driver’s license
Skills:
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose vehicle mechanical problems and make effective and proper repairs as needed
