About This Role

In this role, you'll be responsible for creating a nurturing environment for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years old at Early Discoveries Nursery and Preschool. Your tasks will include planning engaging activities, fostering strong relationships, and ensuring the well-being of each child. You'll work closely with other staff and communicate effectively with parents, adhering to all DCF regulations. You'll also be responsible for maintaining a clean and welcoming space, including daily and monthly cleaning tasks, and ensuring all areas are tidy and child-friendly. Additionally, you'll be required to navigate our technology systems, including the ELV and Dojo app, to track staff and children's information.


What You'll Do

Childcare and Supervision:

  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of children at all times, providing a secure and nurturing environment.
  • Monitor children during indoor and outdoor activities, guaranteeing their safety and well-being.
  • Attend to children's basic needs, including feeding, diapering, and personal care.

Curriculum Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and activities tailored to the children's age and developmental stage.
  • Create engaging and interactive experiences that foster a love for learning.
  • Provide opportunities for creative expression, sensory exploration, and problem-solving activities.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress and well-being.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive environment for children.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements
  1. Communication skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
  2. Patience and Empathy: Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy and a passion for working with young children.
  3. CPR Certification: Possession of First Aid and CPR certification for infant and toddlers (or willingness to obtain certificate within 30 days of starting.)
  4. Have a positive attitude and reliable work ethic.
  5. Provide a fun space for children to learn, grow, and explore.

Nice To Haves
  1. Experience: Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting.
  2. Level 7 on the Wisconsin Registry or higher (this makes you teacher qualified) or be willing to complete 3 booklet classes to become teacher certified.
  3. Familiarity with child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.
