Northwestern State University's College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks an applicant for a 9-month full-time faculty position for the Associate/Bachelor of Science degree programs in Nursing available in Shreveport beginning January 5, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications
A Master of Science in Nursing degree is required; however, a Doctorate is preferred; Eligible for membership on undergraduate faculty. Unencumbered licensure status as an RN in the state of Louisiana; or eligible for Louisiana licensure. At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience; three (3) or more preferred. Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.
Job Duties and Other Information
• Perform faculty responsibilities within a large nursing education department at Northwestern State University.
• Support program expansion efforts in Shreveport and surrounding areas.
• Teach assigned courses in a manner that promotes academic excellence and student engagement.
• Provide instruction in areas of professional and clinical expertise.
• Evaluate student learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback.
• Serve as a professional role model to students and peers.
• Represent the university in a positive and professional manner.
• Assist in maintaining records and documentation pertinent to the College of Nursing.
• Uphold confidentiality regarding faculty, staff, and students in compliance with federal laws and university policies.
• Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of policies and procedures within the College of Nursing.
• Attend College of Nursing and university functions, meetings, and assigned committee activities.
• Maintain regular office hours and demonstrate reliable attendance.
• Advise and mentor students during office hours and as needed.
• Engage in activities that promote the College of Nursing, which may occur during evenings, weekends, or off-site.
• Exhibit flexibility, collaboration, and a supportive attitude in all college and university-related activities.
• Actively recruit students to programs within the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health.
• Serve as a liaison between the College and other university departments, as well as local, state, and national agencies and organizations.
• Master's degree in Nursing required; Doctorate preferred.
• Eligibility for membership in the undergraduate faculty.
• Unencumbered RN license in the state of Louisiana, or eligibility for licensure.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of nurse educator experience; more than three years preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in curriculum development, instruction, student evaluation, and academic advising.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Must meet all university-defined standards for academic appointment.
