Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of high-risk L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and the ability to circulate and provide newborn care.

Details
  • High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms and an average daily census of 15 patients and 500–600 deliveries per month
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, Adult Recovery Services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
  • Unit includes 4 ORs and follows AWHONN staffing guidelines
  • Medications administered include heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
  • Electronic fetal monitoring is used; Epic is the required EMR
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
  • Floating required to postpartum and antepartum units, and may include floating to sister facilities that provide mother/baby care
Requirements
  • Active WA RN license or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS and NRP
  • Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
  • Minimum of 3 years of high-risk L&D experience required; 5 years strongly preferred
  • Experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment required
  • Must be able to circulate in the OR
  • Must be able to perform newborn care including eye prophylaxis, vitamin K (thigh) injections, and newborn assessments
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Electronic fetal monitoring experience required
  • Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Current proof of required certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
  • RN functions in the role of baby nurse during delivery and continues newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former permanent staff of any Providence facility other than Swedish must have been separated for at least 3 months before being eligible for a travel contract
  • Candidates who previously worked at a Swedish facility are not eligible
  • Candidates must not reside within 50 miles of the facility to be eligible as a traveler
  • All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
  • Minimal RTO is strongly preferred; time-off requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis
