Job description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery outpatient clinic provides skilled nursing care, patient assessments, and triage for pediatric, OB, and adult patients. This role involves performing injections, wound care, medication administration, and patient education within a fast-paced outpatient setting. The nurse collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care and effective management of hypertension and other conditions, utilizing electronic fetal monitoring and EPIC charting.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct phone triage and in-clinic patient appointments for pediatric, OB, and adult populations.
  • Perform injections, blood pressure checks, wound care, suture removal, and newborn assessments.
  • Assess patient vitals, pain levels, lab results, health history, allergies, and pulse oximetry.
  • Manage hypertension and utilize Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) for obstetric patients.
  • Administer medications via intradermal, IM, IV infusions, and subcutaneous routes.
  • Engage in patient and family teaching focused on lifestyle and medication adherence.
  • Participate in telephone triage and patient education to promote health management.
  • Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Float to similar units as needed within the outpatient clinic setting.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 1 year outpatient clinic RN experience.
  • Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
  • Triage experience.
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient education skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience managing higher patient ratios.
  • Participation in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Effective interdisciplinary team collaboration skills.
Special Considerations:
  • No weekend shifts and no on-call responsibilities.
  • May float to similar outpatient units as needed.
  • Facility attire allows any color scrubs.
Scheduling:
  • Work schedule consists of three 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Wednesday, from 07:30 to 18:00.
