What is a weekend insurance photographer?

Weekend Insurance Photographers are professionals who take photographs for insurance purposes, typically working on weekends. They document property, vehicles, or other assets to support insurance claims, policy applications, or risk assessments. Their work helps insurance companies verify conditions and assess damages accurately. Weekend schedules are common to accommodate clients who are only available outside of regular business hours.

How does a weekend insurance photographer typically coordinate with clients and adjusters to ensure accurate documentation of properties?

Weekend Insurance Photographers often work closely with insurance adjusters, property owners, or field agents to schedule site visits and clarify documentation needs. Communication is key to understanding which areas or damages require detailed imagery, as well as adhering to specific guidelines set by the insurance company. Being proactive in confirming appointments and clear about deliverables can help prevent miscommunication and ensure timely, accurate submissions. This role may also involve uploading images to a secure portal and completing brief reports after each assignment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend insurance photographer, and why are they important?

To succeed as a Weekend Insurance Photographer, you need a solid understanding of photography techniques, attention to detail, and a valid driver’s license, often supported by prior experience in property or automotive photography. Familiarity with digital cameras, photo editing software, and insurance reporting platforms is typically required. Strong organizational skills, time management, and effective communication help you excel in coordinating site visits and delivering clear photographic evidence. These skills ensure accurate documentation, timely reporting, and client satisfaction in the insurance claims process.

Job description

If you view photography as art and love capturing moments that make people feel moved and inspired, our In-House Photographer role might be right for you.

Our Dogs Inc Marketing team seeks a creative, experienced full-time photographer who can bring our mission to life through artistic, memorable imagery. You’ll be part of a small, highly collaborative team of designer-photographers within our larger in-house Marketing team, photographing everything from puppies in action to the heartwarming bonds between our guide and service dogs and the people whose lives they impact.

It helps if you have a passion for making a difference, because at Dogs Inc, our life-changing guide and service dogs transform lives throughout the United States. We provide our dogs, expert instruction, and ongoing support completely free of charge to our clients, thanks to big-hearted donors and volunteers.

What You’ll Love Doing

Reporting to the Art Director, you’ll help tell the Dogs Inc story through photography, from concept to final image. No two days are the same, and creative experimentation is encouraged alongside collaboration and openness to feedback.

Your day-to-day will bring opportunities to:

  • Handle all aspects of photography from pre-production through post-production, including planning shoots; coordinating locations, people, and dogs; staging and lighting; shooting; editing and color correcting; and preparing images for print and digital.
  • Work with mirrorless/DSLR cameras in studio, outdoor, and on-location settings
  • Photograph puppies, adult dogs, volunteers, staff, graduates, and clients with diverse abilities conveying authentic moments, emotion, and joy
  • Contribute spectacular imagery to high-end marketing communications, including collateral, websites, calendars, magazines, and more
  • Connect with clients and dog teams before shoots to help them feel comfortable, prepared, and confident in front of the camera
  • Support fellow photographers with lighting, setup, breakdown, and other on-set needs
  • Coordinate your travel for photo shoots in other cities and states, including both flying and driving, connecting with the graduate, setting times, dates, and locations
  • Work as part of a collaborative team where you’ll share ideas, experiment, solve challenges, support one another, and create exceptional work

Why You’ll Love It

Our culture pushes the bounds of creativity to build awareness, reach those who need our dogs, and raise support for our mission. Our in-house team produces such a diverse range of projects that the work is always changing.

One day, you might photograph a litter of puppies. The next, you could be on location photographing a veteran with their service dog. Your work will appear across campaigns, publications, digital channels, and other projects that reach people throughout the country, and occasionally in national publications who feature our graduates.

Must-Have Abilities and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional photography experience
  • A compelling portfolio of artistic, visually striking photography, including action photography
  • A strong artistic eye and command of lighting, composition, and color
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Professional experience with mirrorless/DSLR cameras
  • Comfort working with dogs of all ages and people with diverse abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility and openness to constructive feedback and creative experimentation

How to Show Us Your Stuff

We’d love to learn a little about you, your approach to photography, and why you’d be an excellent fit for our in-house creative team!

Please include:

  • A cover letter and résumé (CV)
  • A PDF or link to your photography portfolio or sample gallery

This is a hybrid position with the expectation to work on-site at our beautiful 66-acre Palmetto, Florida, campus at least 3 days per week. Because this is an in-person photography role, the employee must be available to work on campus or at shoot locations as needed. Occasional evening and weekend work is required, along with long-distance travel several times per year.

Why Join Dogs Inc?
