Weekend Insurance Photographer information

How much should a photographer charge for 1 hour?

Weekend insurance photographers typically charge between $100 and $300 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the scope of the shoot. Rates may also vary based on the type of photography, equipment used, and post-processing requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Insurance Photographer, and why are they important?

To succeed as a Weekend Insurance Photographer, you need a solid understanding of photography techniques, attention to detail, and a valid driver’s license, often supported by prior experience in property or automotive photography. Familiarity with digital cameras, photo editing software, and insurance reporting platforms is typically required. Strong organizational skills, time management, and effective communication help you excel in coordinating site visits and delivering clear photographic evidence. These skills ensure accurate documentation, timely reporting, and client satisfaction in the insurance claims process.

How does a Weekend Insurance Photographer typically coordinate with clients and adjusters to ensure accurate documentation of properties?

Weekend Insurance Photographers often work closely with insurance adjusters, property owners, or field agents to schedule site visits and clarify documentation needs. Communication is key to understanding which areas or damages require detailed imagery, as well as adhering to specific guidelines set by the insurance company. Being proactive in confirming appointments and clear about deliverables can help prevent miscommunication and ensure timely, accurate submissions. This role may also involve uploading images to a secure portal and completing brief reports after each assignment.

What are Weekend Insurance Photographers?

Weekend Insurance Photographers are professionals who take photographs for insurance purposes, typically working on weekends. They document property, vehicles, or other assets to support insurance claims, policy applications, or risk assessments. Their work helps insurance companies verify conditions and assess damages accurately. Weekend schedules are common to accommodate clients who are only available outside of regular business hours.

Do photographers work on weekends?

Weekend insurance photographers often work on weekends, especially during events like weddings, sports, or special occasions. Their schedules depend on client needs and event timings, requiring flexibility and sometimes evening or holiday work.

What insurance should I get as a photographer?

Weekend insurance photographers should consider obtaining general liability insurance to cover property damage and bodily injury, as well as equipment insurance to protect cameras and gear. Professional photographers often also get business or professional liability insurance if they offer client services, and some may need additional coverage for specific environments or events.

What is the difference between Weekend Insurance Photographer vs Part-Time Commercial Photographer?

Search & ComparisonOften compared for flexible, event-based workCompared for commercial project work

Weekend Insurance Photographers focus on event-based shoots related to insurance claims or inspections, often working on weekends. In contrast, Part-Time Commercial Photographers handle marketing and advertising projects for businesses, usually during weekdays or flexible hours. Both roles require photography skills, but their work environments and client types differ significantly.

Is $100 an hour good for a photographer?

For a weekend insurance photographer, earning $100 an hour is generally considered a competitive rate, especially for freelance or part-time work that requires specialized skills like working with insurance claims, using professional cameras, and managing on-site shoots. Rates can vary based on experience, location, and the complexity of assignments, but $100 per hour is above average for many freelance photography roles. Factors such as equipment costs, travel, and editing time should also be considered when evaluating pay rates.

Job description

#WeAreParamount on a mission to unleash the power of content... you in?
We've got the brands, we've got the stars, we've got the power to achieve our mission to entertain the planet - now all we're missing is... YOU! Becoming a part of Paramount means joining a team of passionate people who not only recognize the power of content but also enjoy a touch of fun and uniqueness. Together, we co-create moments that matter - both for our audiences and our employees - and aim to leave a positive mark on culture.

One story can change how someone understands their own neighborhood. That's the job. CBS Colorado is looking for a full-time photojournalist and editor who loves their craft - someone who chases the shot that makes a viewer stop scrolling and pay attention. You'll work alongside reporters who move fast and expect the same from you, on deadlines that don't bend. If that sounds less like pressure and more like exactly where you want to be, let's talk.

What You'll Do:

  • Shoot assigned news and sports stories with a creative, clear, and accurate eye
  • Gather breaking news as it happens, including live shots and live remote operation (LiveU)
  • Set up lighting and audio as the situation calls for it, including individually running multiple cameras
  • Edit daily stories under deadline pressure using non-linear editing systems
  • Build visually compelling stories that mean something to our viewers - for both broadcast and streaming platforms
  • Generate digital content and edit vertical video for our digital and streaming apps
  • Operate station vehicles safely, reporting maintenance issues to your supervisor
  • Keep your gear in good working order and flag equipment problems early
  • Hit newscast deadlines, every time
  • Uphold journalistic, ethical, and professional standards consistent with our values
  • Take on other newsroom duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • 3-5 years of experience pitching, shooting, writing, editing, and delivering video stories on deadline
  • Working knowledge of ENG systems (Sony XDCAM, Sony FX9, or similar) and non-linear editing tools (Avid, Grass Valley, Premiere Pro)
  • A valid driver's license (or ability to obtain one) with unrestricted ability to drive
  • Ability to carry, shoulder, and shoot with a broadcast ENG camera (25 lbs.+) plus support gear like tripods and lights
  • Availability for weekends, long hours, or varying shifts as needed to hit broadcast deadlines - in all kinds of weather
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, and a genuine passion for news
