Department: Human Resources
Reports to: HR Manager
FLSA Status: Seasonal Part-Time Internship (Academic Semester)
Schedule: Approximately 15–20 hours per week (varies by projects)
Compensation: $20.00/hour
Benefits: Not benefit eligible

Job Summary

The Human Resources Intern provides administrative and project support to the Human Resources department while gaining practical experience in a professional HR environment. This internship aligns with the academic semester schedule, with opportunities for additional hours upon review. This role supports recruiting, onboarding materials, personnel file administration, employee engagement, training preparation, HR projects and events, and HRIS administrative support.

This suburban mining environment and private ownership structure are the foundation for our commitment to building and operating great facilities for our neighbors, customers, employees, and vendors.

What HR Interns Do

  • Support employee onboarding, orientation, and training initiatives
  • Assist with planning and coordinating company-wide employee events
  • Digitize and maintain personnel records to improve organization and accessibility
  • Organize and maintain HR filing systems to ensure accurate recordkeeping
  • Review and improve data accuracy within Paycom
  • Assist with employee appreciation and engagement activities across company locations
  • Support employee health, safety, and compliance initiatives as needed
  • Prepare building permit packets in support of the Development Director

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field
  • Previous office or customer service experience preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong reading comprehension and math abilities (English required; Spanish is a plus)
  • Expertise with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with Paycom or other HRIS is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, professional, and eager to learn
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit for long periods of time and occasionally crawl, climb, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift (50 lbs.). 

Must be able to identify and resolve issues, evaluate opportunities, and make timely, sound decisions while understanding their impact and implications. Effectively communicates, manages multiple administrative responsibilities, and maintains professional relationships. Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, and take ownership of responsibilities. Continuously identify gaps and seek opportunities for learning and professional development.

Working Environment

Up to 80% of time spent in an office with limited exposure to manufacturing environments around industrial equipment. The environment will be dusty and, at times, experience loud noises with exposure to miscellaneous industrial odors. Lannon Stone Products is a dynamic and ever-changing operation, requiring flexibility amongst our team members. Traveling between company sites is an essential part of the job; therefore, each team member needs to be able to reliably travel to be qualified for the position.

This is a seasonal, part-time position aligned with college semesters. Additional hours may be available based on business needs. Average schedule of 15-20 hours per week with flexibility around class schedules.
