Job description

Job Overview

Legacy Supply Chain's freight brokerage is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Logistics Specialist that will help support the movement of cargo for our customers and connecting carriers capable of handling shipments. As a Logistics Specialist, you must be comfortable negotiating on the phone and building relationships with customers as well as expanding our partner carrier base. This position includes a competitive salary with comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match.

Schedule and Compensation
  • Weekend & Afterhours Shift (3pm-11pm EST or 10am-8pm PST) Friday-Tuesday

Job Details

What to expect as a Logistics Specialist - Carrier Procurement: 

  • Source carriers to arrange transportation of clients' cargo

  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers

  • Track and trace shipments, troubleshoot shipment issues

  • Build excellent rapport with partner carriers to promote Legacy as a fair business partner

  • Work closely with operations, sales, and account management to understand clients' transportation needs

  • Monitoring and following up on additional costs occurred during transit to minimize order costs

  • Communicating with customers in an excellent customer service manner and building rapport as a responsive and creative problem solver

  • Communicating with carriers in an excellent professional manner and developing relationships as a fair business partner

  • Maintaining accurate database entries (notes, shipment details, shippers, carriers, etc.)

  • Maintaining accurate and timely billing entries

  • Maintaining shared files and SOP's

  • Contributing to a healthy working atmosphere where teamwork, communication, and a strong focus on LEGACY culture and values are expected

  • Other duties, as required, may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the transportation industry preferred

  • Experience in intermodal/road transport, and/or brokerage environment preferred

  • Energetic, relentless, and thriving in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent negotiator and communicator with a great phone presence

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively

  • Great customer service skills

  • Enthusiasm and high energy

  • Strong work ethic & coachable
