Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Ensemble Department is seeking a guitar player to accompany students in ensemble classes. The guitarist will act as part of the "house band" for regularly scheduled Ensemble Department classes and periodic additional accompanying assignments for recitals, concerts, auditions, and special events.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Music (preferred, but not required)
  • Have a strong musical background in a wide range of styles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as "house band" for regularly scheduled Ensemble Department classes.
  • Participate in Ensemble and/or additional rehearsals.
  • Accompany Visiting Artists' concerts, clinics, and workshops.
  • Assist students and faculty during class time.
  • Some nights/weekends may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Excellent musicianship, especially the ability to groove
  • A background in all Contemporary styles.
  • Have complete technical command of the instrument.
  • Sensitive to the needs of vocalists.
  • Cultivate a supportive learning environment.
