As a guitar player, your job is to play or record music as a professional musician. This can as a solo performer or as part of a band. In this role, you practice new songs between performances, accompany the rest of your band during performances, write original music, and maintain your equipment. Guitarists frequently travel to job sites, so a driver's license and reliable personal transportation are an important part of this job. Depending on your client’s needs, you may also be asked to perform nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. This job title refers exclusively to playing the guitar as a professional musician, not those who teach others how to play the guitar.
