THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is searching for an Electronics Trade Instructor to join the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale. This positions plays an essential role in maintaining reliable electronic systems across the facility, while also sharing your expertise with inmates in a structured and supportive learning environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays an important role in maintaining electronic systems throughout the institution while providing structured vocational training to inmates. Work involves supporting safe facility operations and helping inmates learn useful trade skills. As a Corrections Electronics Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Electronic System Maintenance: Perform upkeep on cameras, telephones, networking lines, and perimeter detection systems
  • Equipment Operation: Use testing devices and tools to maintain CCTV systems, alarms, controls, and related components
  • Inmate Crew Oversight: Direct inmate workers, assign tasks, and review work quality
  • Technical Instruction: Teach inmates the methods, procedures, and safe use of electronic tools and equipment
  • Record Management: Maintain inventories, training records, work documentation, and supply requests
  • Security Practices: Conduct searches of inmates and work areas to ensure a secure environment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
