Job description

At Saint Mary's College, our mission is rooted in educating women to make a difference in the world through intellectual curiosity, spiritual growth, and compassionate leadership. The Center for Faith, Action, and Ministry (CFAM) plays a vital role in helping students explore faith, engage in service, pursue justice, and build meaningful community.
We are seeking a collaborative, creative, and organized Communications and Office Coordinator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing communications, event coordination, administrative operations, and student engagement. As the Communications and Office Coordinator, you will help tell the story of CFAM through engaging digital communications while ensuring the Center's daily operations run smoothly. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor student interns, collaborate across campus, and contribute to experiences that have a lasting impact on students.
If you are passionate about higher education, have a talent for organization and communication, and enjoy working in a mission-driven environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage communications for the Center for Faith, Action, and Ministry, including newsletters, event flyers, website content, the mySaintMary's portal, and campus communications.
  • Develop and oversee social media strategy and content for CFAM's Instagram accounts, creating engaging posts, stories, and videos that promote faith, spirituality, justice, and community.
  • Maintain content calendars, schedule digital communications, and ensure consistent branding and accessibility across print and digital platforms.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 3-4 student Communication and Design interns.
  • Coordinate purchasing, office supplies, catering, and purchase requisitions for Center programming and operations.
  • Manage vehicle reservations, Enterprise rentals, and key check-out processes for retreats, service experiences, and community engagement activities.
  • Assist with retreat planning, participant registrations, travel arrangements, and site reservations.
  • Coordinate daily office operations, including expense tracking, work orders, event reservations, and student leader desk schedules.
  • Serve as a welcoming presence in the Center by providing hospitality and assisting students, including those seeking pastoral care during challenging moments.
  • Support and oversee student leaders working front desk shifts, ensuring office procedures and responsibilities are carried out effectively.
  • Participate in CFAM student leader retreats and other departmental events, including occasional evening and weekend programming.
  • Collaborate with the CFAM team to advance the mission of Saint Mary's College as a Catholic and Holy Cross institution.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Administrative experience in an office environment, preferably within higher education.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and event logistics simultaneously.
  • Experience creating and managing communications through social media and digital marketing platforms.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and familiarity with design and communications software such as Canva, Buffer, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or similar tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a college or university environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring student employees or interns.
  • Knowledge of social media strategy, branding, and digital engagement best practices.
  • Experience supporting event planning, travel coordination, and purchasing processes.
  • Interest in mentoring and accompanying college students in their personal and leadership development.
  • Appreciation for and commitment to the mission and values of Saint Mary's College and the Catholic Holy Cross tradition.

Eligibility to Work
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and must not require visa sponsorship from the College, either now or in the future.
Schedule
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support student programs, retreats, special events, and Center activities throughout the academic year.
