Overview:BIE DSFM Construction is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer (SME II) to support environmental compliance, NEPA processes, and infrastructure improvement projects. This role involves technical oversight, regulatory coordination, and environmental assessments for school facilities across Indian Affairs.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as NEPA advisor and manage environmental compliance across project phases.
- Review Environmental Assessments and Categorical Exclusions; draft FONSIs.
- Provide technical support for water, wastewater, air quality, and site assessments.
- Lead environmental evaluations and contribute to site improvement reports.
- Coordinate with Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (THPO) and other tribal entities.
- Develop scopes of work and cost estimates for environmental services and infrastructure projects.
- Manage water, wastewater, and stormwater improvement projects.
- Conduct site visits and construction management reporting.
- Advise on environmental regulations and ensure project compliance.
- Train school personnel on Deferred Maintenance Work Orders (DMWOs) in Maximo.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in environmental engineering or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of NEPA, environmental regulations, and infrastructure systems.
- Experience with site planning, cost estimating, and construction methods.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project tracking tools.
